Renters’ Rights Bill to be introduced to Parliament this week
Renters’ Rights Bill including ban on section 21 evictions is due to have its first Commons reading.
The Labour Government's Renters' Rights Bill is expected to be introduced to Parliament this week for its first reading, on the way to becoming law. The bill is likely to include new protections for tenants whose landlord wants to sell or move in, place restrictions on bidding wars, abolish Section 21 evictions and mandate longer notice periods.
Ben Beadle, chief executive of the National Residential Landlord Association (NRLA) said “Plans to reform the private rented sector have been on the table for over five years now.
“Above all, renters and landlords need certainty about what the future looks like. Whilst we await the precise details of the Bill, it is vital that it works and is fair to both tenants and landlords.”
